Mr Feng JingCao’s works belong to the tempera oil painting process
“Tempera” is transliteration of the English also French word” tempera,” it is the recorded drawing medium of many renowned painters. Originating a thousand years ago in ancient Europe, Tempera oil painting’s unique charm is viewable in many European art Museums. Artists themselves usually produced their own medium in this complicated process. Tempera oil painting requires the longest procedure and requires the most energy of all painting techniques. Works need to be stored in a dry environment with good ventilation due to their long calcification process.
  
In one hundred year’s history of Chinese oil painting, most painters have been inspired by modern European oil techniques, but Mr. Feng’s work draws nourishment from ancient European tempera oil painting techniques. The choice of this specific technique inherently influences his painting ideas. In the creation of art, contemporary painters generally like to express realities they see with their own eyes, but Mr Feng likes to put himself in a space where he can imagine communicating with ancient masters. Using cultural models for his paintings as the foundation and then expressing it with as much quality as possible, this intricate concept of creation is rarely seen among Chinese painters.
  
Artists often desire to obtain much from the works of great masters, but don’t want to lose their artistic individuality. Mr Feng applies ancient representation directly to his works, as a result, what is viewable or occurring gets a deeper meaning from the realities that are. These characteristics fully illustrate his postmodern painting idea. On the issue of passing on national culture in the Chinese art circle, Mr. Feng relies on the expression and protecting samples of classical cultural and inheritance. He strives for possibilities of cultural development. Not simply aiming for artistic individuality, as most would by removing the traditional aesthetic of national culture. Instead, he uses his own unique methods and ideas to progress in his native culture.

Mr Feng makes classical Chinese representation go along with “costume” the warmth of the body in the clothing, letting people touch and feel the greatness of classical Chinese art at a closer distance, while at the same time, reinforcing modern people’s admiration of ancient culture, as well as its refraction and influences on contemporary society.
